Job Description –
As the Waste Shed Banksman you will be responsible organising vehicular movement on a busy site. Alongside this you will be responsible for ensuring that all site plant has its daily vehicle checks and maintenance. You will be working alongside both the Shed Team and the Maintenance Team.
Outline of role
The job role of a Banksman at our MRF will involve the following duties:
· Managing traffic across site including entry and exit to Waste Sheds in a Safe and efficient manner
· Working with the Shed Team to sort various waste streams
· Cleaning down machinery and various plant when required
· Keeping site tidy with roles such as litter picking and sweeping
· You will record any defects on plant and communicate this to the Transport Manager/ Site Manager/ H & S Manager to ensure that plant stays operational and safe
· Use telehandlers and forklifts when required
Your role will be to ensure that within the team we are able to keep a very busy site always running effectively. Providing on-going support to the Shed Supervisor and Shed Manager.
Experience
You will need to be conscientious, organised and hardworking. You must be able to work under pressure and enjoy problem solving and lateral thinking as there is a lot of vehicle movements control.
· Previous experience within the waste/recycling industry (advantageous)
· Experience of working with machines will be advantageous
· Able to react quickly to information, helping solve any challenges to route
· Able to work as part of a team
Skills
· Confident in giving direction to a team within the shed
· Has a logical and methodical approach to all tasks to ensure that we can keep a constant flow of traffic on site
Working Hours /Schedule
Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.00 – 18.00 and every other Saturday 7.00 – 13.00. (Hours maybe subject to change based on work commitments)
Salary
Weekly pay, starting from £14.00 per hour
Plus bonus scheme which includes an extra £2.50 for any hours worked over 40 hours per week.
