An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist in Breast and General Radiology, based primarily at the Cardiff Breast Centre, University Hospital Llandough, with close links to General Radiology. The post holder will also provide sub‑specialist radiology services according to experience and interests.
The Cardiff Breast Centre is a modern, purpose‑built facility in the capital city of Wales, housing state‑of‑the‑art imaging, clinic and counselling rooms, a multidisciplinary teaching suite, patient exercise facilities, and staff offices. The service is supported by four full‑time Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons and a Specialty Doctor, offering a dynamic, collaborative working environment.
The role benefits from the Welsh Consultant contract, with a basic salary of £114,099–£166,585 per annum,
Applicants must provide referees covering the last three years of employment or training. Those currently, or most recently, employed as a substantive or long‑term locum Consultant (over 12 months) must also nominate their Medical Director as an additional referee.
The post holder will work with the current Consultants in consolidating the secondary care service provided for the residents of Cardiff and the Vale.
The Cardiff Breast Centre has an active multidisciplinary team, with a dedicated team of Breast Care Nurses, research team and a physiotherapist. There are links with Breast Test Wales for breast screening, Plastic Surgery colleagues in Swansea, and the All Wales Genetics Service. There is a dedicated in-patient ward. Oncology is delivered at our neighbouring Velindre Hospital.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.
