Experienced Groundworker | PKB Civils | Nationwide
PKB Civils are growing. Following strong business performance and the award of several new contracts, we're looking to add experienced groundworkers to our teams.
These are not entry-level positions. We need people who have been doing this for a number of years, know their trade inside out, and can hit the ground running from day one.
What PKB Civils offers
We offer both CIS and PAYE — whichever suits you, we can make it work.
CIS (self-employed)
· Transport provided to and from site from Rochdale
· Potential for van and fuel card
· Workwear, tools and PPE all provided
PAYE (employed)
· Competitive salary with potential van and fuel card
· Transport provided to and from site from Rochdale
· 28 days holiday including bank holidays
· An extra day's holiday for every year with the business, up to 3 additional days
· An extra day's holiday for every 50 nights worked away
Working away — CIS and PAYE
· 1 hour's bonus pay for each night away
· Any hours after 4.30pm paid at time and a quarter
· Premier Inn double room provided
· £25 evening meal allowance
· Hotel breakfast included
The role
You'll be working across a range of civil engineering and groundworks projects nationwide, getting involved in some or all of the following:
· Concrete breakout, subbase preparation and pouring new external slabs
· Concrete finishing works
· Shuttering and formwork for slabs and structures
· Steel fixing
· Setting and checking levels using a rotating laser
· Operating excavators, dumpers and rollers
· Drainage works including separators and attenuation tanks’
· Ducting installation
· Finishing works — kerbing, edgings and flagging
· Tarmac works
· CAT scanning and working safely around live services
We don't expect you to cover every area — but we do expect you to be genuinely strong in yours. PKB build teams around people's strengths.
What we need from you
· A number of years' groundworks experience
· The ability to work independently without needing to be managed
· Willingness to work nationwide and away from home when required
· A 7.30am site start — yard meet times can be earlier depending on distance
· Valid CSCS card
· Full driving licence preferred
One thing worth knowing if you're a plant operator
PKB operators work on the ground when it's needed. If you want to stay in the cab all day, this isn't the right role. If you're happy to graft wherever the job takes you, you'll fit right in.
