Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our care team in a nursing home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting residents with their daily needs, promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and senior carers, you will provide person-centred care that enhances the quality of life for our residents.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care and support with daily living activities (washing, dressing, toileting, eating, and mobility).
Build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues, ensuring dignity, respect, and empathy at all times.
Assist with mealtimes, hydration, and monitoring of dietary needs.
Support residents with recreational and social activities to encourage engagement and wellbeing.
Monitor and record observations such as fluid intake, weight, and any changes in condition, reporting promptly to nursing staff.
Assist with the safe use of mobility aids and equipment in line with training.
Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment by following infection prevention and control procedures.
Contribute to care planning and accurate documentation of care delivered.
Work collaboratively with the wider care team to ensure individualised care plans are met.

Qualifications & Skills

Must have the right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide visa sponsorship).
Previous experience in a care or nursing home environment is desirable but not essential (full training provided).
Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards it).
NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care is advantageous.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and patient nature.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of residents.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
