Full job description

A vacancy has arisen in our accountancy practice for an experienced payroll administrator/bookkeeper to join our team.

Responsibilities;

Duties will include processing and filing of payroll for approximately 100 clients (weekly/fortnightly/4 weekly/monthly basis). You must be able to deal with all aspects of payroll. You must also be able to work independently to meet strict deadlines and be able to deal with client queries resolving them with HMRC as necessary.

Assisting with bookkeeping and VAT preparation for a wide range of clients, using a variety of systems including Microsoft Excel, Sage 50, Quickbooks and Xero.

Time will be roughly 50% on payroll and 50% on bookkeeping/VAT preparation.

There will also be an element of administration to this role, dealing with clients when they come into the office and helping out with general duties as and when required.

Essential qualities/experience for this role are;

At least 2 years recent experience of processing a high volume of payroll transactions

You must be able to effectively and clearly communicate with clients, colleagues, and HMRC.

A sound understanding of current payroll legislation including PAYE, SSP, SMP, National insurance, pensions, etc.

We are looking for an individual that is able to work independently and works well as part of a small team.

Excellent communication skills

The ability to work to deadlines
The ability to work well under pressure

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
