Part-Time Warehouse Picker and Packer
Location: Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 6SW – near Matalan
Pay: £12.71 per hour (Age 21 and over)
Regular hours: 24 hours per week
Working days: Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Contract: Six-month fixed-term contract. A permanent position may be offered following a review, subject to satisfactory performance and the ongoing requirements of the business.
Working Hours
Your regular contracted hours will be Monday, Tuesday and Friday, from 9:00am until 5:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Following completion of your training, you may be required to work up to one Sunday per month, from 10:30am until 3:00pm, depending on business requirements.
Sunday shifts will normally be arranged in advance but are not guaranteed every month. Any Sunday hours worked will be paid in addition to your regular 24 contracted hours.
During exceptionally busy periods, you may also be offered additional Sunday shifts. Any Sundays beyond the usual one per month will be optional.

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately picking and packing customer orders for dispatch
- Checking products and quantities to ensure orders are correct
- Receiving and checking incoming deliveries
- Placing stock into the correct warehouse locations
- Helping to maintain accurate and organised stock locations
- Keeping the warehouse clean, safe and tidy
- Following warehouse procedures and health and safety requirements
- Assisting with other general warehouse duties when required
What We’re Looking For
Previous warehouse experience would be helpful but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Has good attention to detail
- Can work efficiently and with a sense of urgency during busy periods
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Has a positive and helpful attitude
- Is willing to learn and follow instructions
- Is comfortable carrying out physical warehouse work, including standing, walking, bending and lifting throughout the shift
- Can reliably commute to our Bamber Bridge warehouse
- Can work up to one Sunday per month when required and scheduled in advance
Contract and Permanent Role Review
This position is initially offered on a six-month fixed-term contract.
During this period, your attendance, punctuality, reliability, conduct and overall performance will be assessed. Regular feedback will be provided, with a formal review taking place towards the end of the fixed-term contract.
Following this review, the business will consider whether a permanent position can be offered. Any offer of permanent employment will depend on satisfactory performance and the ongoing requirements of the business and is therefore not guaranteed.
