The Role
Working as part of one of our surfacing gangs, you'll deliver a wide variety of asphalt surfacing projects across the commercial, industrial and highways sectors. You'll play a key role in ensuring every project is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of workmanship.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Carrying out all aspects of hand lay asphalt surfacing, including raking, luting, levelling, joint preparation and achieving a high-quality finish.
- Working as part of a machine lay gang, supporting paving operations and ensuring material is placed, regulated and finished to specification.
- Assisting with the preparation of surfacing works, including setting out work areas, checking levels and preparing the site for asphalt installation.
- Operating and working alongside surfacing plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Achieving the required line, level and falls in accordance with project specifications.
- Completing tie-ins, joints and finishing works to a high standard.
- Carrying out daily checks and basic maintenance of tools, plant and equipment.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
- Working closely with supervisors and colleagues to deliver projects safely, efficiently and on programme.
- Representing Worksop Tarmacadam professionally on every site.
About You
We're looking for operatives with experience in one or more of the following:
- Hand lay asphalt surfacing.
- Machine lay asphalt surfacing.
- Commercial, industrial or highway surfacing projects.
You'll also demonstrate:
- Pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- The ability to work effectively within a team.
- A commitment to working safely at all times.
- Good communication skills.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving License
- Experience in hand lay asphalt surfacing, machine lay asphalt surfacing, or both.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a surfacing gang.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
The following would be advantageous, but are not essential:
- Experience within groundworks or civil engineering.
- NRSWA Street Works qualification.
- Roller, Paver or Screed Operative competency/tickets.
- Dumper or other plant operator qualifications.
- Additional CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications.
- First Aid at Work qualification
