At Land Energy, we operate a high-performance biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant equipped with an Organic Rankine Cycle turbine, along with a 100,000-tonne wood pellet production facility. Our new wood briquette production line produces 45,000 tonnes annually.

The Role
To oversee and manage all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), regulatory compliance, environmental reporting, fibre administration, and sustainability obligations across the business.
The EHS & Compliance Manager plays a key role in ensuring compliance with UK legislation, maintaining operational standards, supporting audits and reporting requirements, and driving continuous improvement across safety, environmental, and compliance processes.
What you’ll be doing:
EHS Safety Management:
· Update company policies and procedures in line with current regulations and legislation.
· Maintain and update MSDS documentation and COSHH assessments.
· Conduct and review risk assessments across site operations.
· Manage near miss and incident reporting, tracking, and corrective actions.
· Promote and oversee onsite driving safety initiatives.
· Prepare and present monthly EHS reports to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
· Coordinate annual audits and track resulting actions to completion.
· Conduct annual Fire Risk Assessments and ensure ongoing compliance.
· Carry out DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessments.
· Organise and monitor fire drills.
· Maintain and update all fire safety documentation and fire folders.
· Track servicing and compliance of fire extinguishers.
· Arrange annual asbestos audits and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
· Ensure equipment calibration compliance is maintained.
· Monitor and interpret radiation legislation requirements where applicable.
· Coordinate noise, air monitoring, and environmental audits.
· Ensure compliance with asbestos and DSEAR regulations.
· Maintain and update schematic drawings of the site.
· Oversee Permit to Work systems, including process auditing and compliance monitoring.
Environmental Management:
· Conduct environmental due diligence checks on suppliers.
· Maintain waste transfer note records and documentation.
· Monitor waste invoices and waste stream descriptions for compliance.
· Ensure compliance with SEPA requirements, including PPC and Grate Ash exemption certificates.
· Support ongoing environmental compliance initiatives and reporting.
Compliance & Sustainability:
· Coordinate annual audits and submissions for agencies such as SEPA, OFGEM, FSC, GiB, SEDEX
· Support Net Zero reporting and sustainability initiatives.
· Collect and submit NWPD/EPR data.
· Prepare for EUDR compliance requirements, including EU documentation obligations.
Fibre Administration:
· Maintain oversight of all fibre deliveries.
· Provide holiday cover support when required.
· Update fibre tracking spreadsheets on a weekly basis.
· Monitor FSC rolling averages and compliance.
· Manage FITS administration.
· Order compliant delivery books in line with Plant Health Passport requirements.
· Conduct monthly stock takes.
· Prepare month-end fibre figures and accruals.
ROCS Administration:
· Complete monthly ROCS submissions.
· Prepare annual sustainability audit reports for OFGEM.
What we’re looking for:
· NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
· Previous experience within EHS, environmental compliance, or regulatory management.
· Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
· Experience with audits, compliance reporting, and regulatory submissions.
· Familiarity with COSHH, DSEAR, Fire Safety, and environmental management systems.
· Environmental or sustainability-related qualification desirable.
· Experience working within manufacturing, biomass, recycling, or industrial environments preferred.
· Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
· Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Pay: £42,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
