Duration: Fixed Term, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

The purpose of the role is to provide an efficient, effective and flexible comprehensive recovery service to recover income for Rent, Former Tenancy Arrears, Legal Expenses, and any other income due to the Council in conjunction with the Council’s Debt Collection and Sheriff Officer Services.
The role includes regular work at weekends and outside normal hours to maximise engagement and requires close collaboration with Corporate Debt Recovery Officers to support effective tenancy sustainment.
Officers will seek to assist tenants with potential benefit applications and make affordable arrangements for rent arrears.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Must have a clean and current UK Driving License
Strong written and numeracy skills, such as National Certificate in English and Maths or an equivalent qualification

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

An ability to understand and apply complex regulations
Using a variety of ICT software packages
Proven organisational skills
Proven communication skills
Proven attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
An ability to work both co-operatively and independently
A focus on delivering excellent customer service and ability to engage positively with individuals who are vulnerable or in conflict with the jobholder.
An ability to proactively resolve problems at the earlies opportunity
Comply with GDPR, ICT and Health and Safety
