We are looking to recruit a dynamic band 6 Cardiac Physiologist for invasive cardiology diagnostics in the cath lab, mainly angio & PCI.
Our Unit offers a full range of cardiac services such as device implants, pacing and ICD follow up, remote monitoring, non-medically supervised exercise tolerance tests, Ambulatory ECG monitoring, non-invasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and head-up tilt testing.
We are a British Society of Echocardiography accredited department and offer a full echo service including routine transthoracic studies, contrast, 3D, transoesophageal echo and stress echo (both Dobutamine and Exercise) on both sites and physiologist led stress echo and valve clinic service.
The Cardiology Department at Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust has expanded in the last 2 years, to include 2/3 weekly pacing implants sessions and cath lab at Epsom site. The Cardiology Investigations Unit currently supports 9 Cardiologists.
We have close working links with Harefield Hospital, Royal Brompton, St George’s and St Peter’s NHS Trusts.
At band 6 level – BSc Cardiac Physiology degree (or equivalent) is essential and cross site work is mandatory.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in the cath lab, supporting the effective delivery of the angio & PCI services. Will also be expected to deliver ambulatory ECG monitor service, Exercise Tolerance Test and Head-up Tilt Test (HUTT). Will also support development and education of junior members of the team, like junior cardiac physiologists, cardiographers and apprentices.
The post holder should be proficient at ECG interpretation, Holter analysis and be able to lead exercise tolerance testing.
The candidate must be able to perform resting ECGs and Cardiac Physiologist led exercise stress tests, hooking-up and analyses of 24hr ECG and non-invasive blood pressure ambulatory monitoring and assist with HUTT. Must be able to understand and interpret the results of these tests.
The candidate must also be able to work without supervision and understand the basic guidelines and procedures required to perform clinical tests and demonstrate that they can carry these out to the required standards.
