Junior Manufacturing Engineer
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Junior Electronic Engineer to join our manufacturing team, supporting the production, testing, and continuous improvement of advanced laser systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to develop practical engineering skills in a high-tech manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in electronics troubleshooting, product testing, root cause analysis, and process improvement. Full training will be provided in laser systems, optical alignment, and our manufacturing processes.
What you will be doing...
- Assist with diagnosing and resolving faults on electronic assemblies, power supplies, and laser systems.
- Support production teams with technical troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
- Learn to use schematics, technical documentation, and test equipment to investigate product issues.
- Carry out functional testing and verification of repaired or completed products.
- Record findings from investigations and contribute to improving repair and manufacturing processes.
- Support the creation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation and work instructions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, R&D, and Service teams on technical projects and product improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Develop knowledge of laser technology, optics, manufacturing processes, and electronic systems.

About You
Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
A passion for electronics and a desire to develop practical engineering skills.
Basic understanding of electronic circuits and fault-finding principles.
Some experience using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, or power supplies through university projects, internships, placements, or personal projects.
Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn from experienced engineers and develop technical expertise.
Skills & Other Requirements
Desirable Skills
No prior industry experience is required, but the following would be advantageous:
Laboratory, project, placement, or internship experience involving electronics design, testing, or troubleshooting.
Knowledge of PCBs, sensors, power electronics, embedded systems, or control systems.
Experience with soldering, electronics assembly, or hardware debugging.
Familiarity with structured problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis or 5 Whys.
Understanding of manufacturing, quality, or continuous improvement principles.
Interest in photonics, lasers, optics, or advanced technology products.
