Our work matters to millions. It’ll matter to you too. Join our UKCS Regional Scotland team as a Senior IT Field Engineer in Peterhead and you’ll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.
Pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our technological infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring robust network performance, effective hardware and software deployment, and high-level technical support across various locations, thereby supporting Balfour Beatty's operational excellence and service delivery.
The position is predominately site based with some flexibility to work from the Project office in Peterhead as well.
What you'll be doing
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network systems including M365, Cloud services, and Meraki technologies.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities to manage project mobilisation from contract tender to live operational stage, in-service changes and then final decommission.
- Lead root cause analyses and diagnostics to resolve complex technical issues.
- Implement network security measures, manage firmware updates, and ensure compliance with current IT standards.
- Coordinate the setup and support of video conferencing systems across multiple sites.
- Engage with key stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver IT solutions that enhance business operations.
- Guide the deployment of software and hardware upgrades to ensure minimal disruption to services.
- Maintain high levels of service reliability and performance through proactive equipment maintenance and upgrades.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in IT service operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Facilitate training and development sessions for IT staff on new technologies and best practices.
- Monitor and report on IT service performance metrics to inform continuous improvement initiatives
Who we're looking for
- Professional membership in relevant IT or engineering institutions.
- Leadership capabilities for overseeing project-based teams and influencing cross-functional collaborations.
- Experience with Network Configuration, Technical Troubleshooting, and Security Management.
- Experience of project management methodologies & tools.
- Experience with budget management, supplier management and resource scheduling.
- Openness to candidates with transferable skills from different sectors, focusing on capability and adaptability rather than specific sector experience.
