We have a great opportunity to join the Business Support Team at Perth Academy as a School Technician.
As a School Technician you will be responsible for the preparation of resources and maintenance of equipment. You will participate in ensuring Health & Safety regulations are being adhered to across the school.
In this role, you will:.
- Adhere to the Council’s Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
- Carry out routine safety checks on electrical equipment e.g. cable condition, clamping and plug condition
- Support all practical faculties/departments. This will include setting up Science kits/preparing chemicals and equipment maintenance in Science, cutting and preparing materials (timber, metals and plastics) in Technologies (including routine maintenance and minor repairs of woodwork and metalwork machines), and food handling in Home Economics.
- Provide technical advice to colleagues. Including liaison with IT help desk.
- Support the Senior Technician with device asset management.
- Support the teacher when required in classes with practical lessons.
- As part of this role, you will be working with learners and colleagues every day.
- Operate reprographic equipment when required
- Operate CCTV
- Operate and demonstrate use of audio visual equipment to teaching staff.

The working days for this role are Monday – Friday with a recommended working pattern of 8:30am to 4.15pm.

You will work well within a team environment but also be able to work well on your own initiative, have good verbal communication skills and be willing to participate in any training relevant to role.
It would be desirable if you:
- Have knowledge and experience of working within a science/technical environment.
- Be familiar with COSHH regulations and with the safe handling of chemicals.
You must be adaptable and willing to be involved in school community life and have core values of respect, integrity, safety and equity.
