Job Summary

An MOT Tester is responsible for carrying out MOT tests on vehicles in accordance with Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) regulations. The role ensures vehicles meet road safety and environmental standards, maintaining high levels of accuracy, integrity, and customer service.

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Class 4 MOT Tester to join our busy workshop in the local area. Based in our friendly, family run garage in Kettering, this role is vital for ensuring vehicles meet safety standards and operate efficiently, supporting our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct Class 4 MOT tests in line with DVSA testing standards and guidelines in a time efficient manner
Inspect vehicle components including brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, lights, exhaust systems, and emissions
Accurately complete MOT documentation and update digital records
Issue MOT certificates or refusal notices as appropriate
Identify and report additional repair work required to workshop manager and work colleagues
Maintain MOT testing equipment and keep a safe and clean working area
Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Provide clear explanations of test results to workshop manager

Requirements & Qualifications

Valid and current MOT Tester licence issued by the DVSA
Proven experience in vehicle inspection
Good understanding of current MOT testing procedures and legislation
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Good communication skills
Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle technology and safety standards

Working Conditions

Based in a workshop or garage environment
Standing for extended periods and working testing equipment

Salary Range

Competitive, depending on experience.
