About Us
Langworthy Cornerstone Association is a community-based charity and Healthy Living Centre serving residents across Langworthy and the wider Salford area.
We provide a broad range of health, wellbeing, social inclusion, volunteering, arts, community development and cost-of-living support activities. We work in partnership with local residents, NHS services, Salford City Council, voluntary-sector organisations, schools and community groups.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Service Delivery Manager to support the continued development, coordination and quality of our services.
Purpose of the Role
The Service Delivery Manager will provide operational leadership across Langworthy Cornerstone’s community services, projects and programmes.
The postholder will ensure that services are well planned, effectively managed, appropriately staffed and delivered safely, consistently and to a high standard. They will support staff and volunteers, monitor performance, oversee project delivery and ensure that contractual, funding, safeguarding and organisational requirements are met.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Senior Management Team, the Service Delivery Manager will help translate LCA’s strategic priorities into effective operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Delivery and Operational Management
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day delivery of LCA’s community services, activities and funded programmes.
- Ensure that services are planned and delivered in line with organisational priorities, funding agreements and community need.
- Develop clear operational plans, delivery schedules and systems for monitoring progress.
- Ensure that activities are appropriately staffed, resourced, risk assessed and evaluated.
- Ability to write tenders, bids to funders.
- Identify and respond to operational pressures, gaps in provision and service-delivery risks.
- Work with the Building Manager to ensure that rooms, equipment and facilities are suitable and available for planned activities.
- Support the development of new projects and services in response to identified local needs.
2. Staff Leadership and Management
- Provide effective line management, supervision and support to designated staff.
- Set clear objectives and expectations linked to job descriptions, project outcomes and organisational priorities.
- Undertake regular supervision meetings, performance reviews, probationary reviews and annual appraisals.
- Support staff development by identifying training, mentoring and professional-development needs.
- Promote effective teamwork, communication, accountability and collaborative working.
- Address performance, conduct or attendance concerns promptly and appropriately, in conjunction with the CEO and HR advisers.
- Support recruitment, induction and retention of staff and volunteers within the service-delivery team.
- Ensure that staff workloads are monitored and managed appropriately.
3. Project and Programme Management
- Oversee funded projects from mobilisation through to completion.
- Ensure project milestones, outputs, outcomes and expenditure are monitored and achieved.
- Maintain accurate records of delivery, participation, case studies and outcomes.
- Coordinate project meetings and ensure that actions are completed within agreed timescales.
- Identify risks to project delivery and implement appropriate corrective action.
- Contribute to funding applications, project proposals and service-development plans.
- Ensure that project activity remains within agreed budgets and funding conditions.
4. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Develop and maintain effective systems for recording service activity, attendance and outcomes.
- Ensure that staff use LCA’s monitoring, customer relationship management and reporting systems accurately and consistently.
- Monitor performance against organisational key performance indicators, funding targets and contractual requirements.
- Analyse service-delivery data and identify trends, gaps and areas for improvement.
- Produce clear and timely reports for the CEO, Senior Management Team, Trustees, commissioners and funders.
- Support the preparation of case studies, impact reports and evidence of social value.
- Ensure that service-delivery information is accurate, accessible and audit-ready.
5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning and reflective practice.
- Review services regularly to ensure that they remain effective, inclusive and responsive to community need.
- Develop and implement service standards, procedures and operational guidance.
- Gather feedback from service users, staff, volunteers, partners and stakeholders.
- Ensure that learning from feedback, incidents, complaints and evaluations is incorporated into future delivery.
- Support co-production and meaningful community involvement in the design and review of services.
6. Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Compliance
- Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are understood and consistently followed.
- Act appropriately in response to safeguarding concerns and escalate matters in line with organisational procedures.
- Ensure that risk assessments are completed and reviewed for projects, activities and events.
- Promote safe working practices and compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Ensure that staff and volunteers receive appropriate safeguarding, health and safety and operational training.
- Support the effective management of incidents, accidents, complaints and concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
- Ensure that services are delivered in accordance with LCA policies, funding conditions and relevant legislation.
7. Partnership and Stakeholder Working
- Build and maintain positive relationships with commissioners, funders, partner organisations and community groups.
- Represent LCA at relevant operational meetings, networks and partnership forums.
- Develop collaborative working arrangements that strengthen local services and avoid unnecessary duplication.
- Promote effective referral pathways and partnership-based approaches to community support.
- Work with communications staff to promote services, activities and project outcomes.
- Support the CEO in maintaining strong relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders.
8. Financial and Resource Management
- Monitor project and service-delivery expenditure against agreed budgets.
- Work with the CEO and Finance team to support effective financial planning and reporting.
- Ensure that resources are used efficiently and provide value for money.
- Authorise expenditure within agreed delegated limits.
- Identify opportunities for service efficiencies, income generation and sustainable delivery.
- Ensure compliance with organisational procurement and financial procedures.
9. Senior Management Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to Senior Management Team meetings and organisational decision-making.
- Support the implementation of LCA’s strategic and operational plans.
- Provide appropriate operational cover and leadership when required.
- Contribute to organisational risk management, business continuity and service planning.
- Work collaboratively with the CEO, Building Manager and other senior colleagues.
- Provide professional advice to the CEO and Trustees on matters relating to service delivery.
- Carry out other reasonable duties appropriate to the level and responsibilities of the post.
