Are you an experienced finance professional ready to lead a critical function in a dynamic NHS Foundation Trust?

We’re looking for a Financial Services Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Financial Services team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across accounts payable/receivable, treasury management, and statutory reporting.

In this pivotal role, you’ll:
Manage financial operations including cash flow, VAT returns, and technical accounting
Assist on annual accounts working paper preparation and work closely with external auditors
Lead on charitable fund accounting
Provide expert advice on complex financial and tax matters
Drive service improvements and implement robust financial controls
Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence

What we’re looking for:
CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant
Strong knowledge of NHS finance policies, HMRC VAT rules, and statutory accounting regulations
Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills

The Financial Services Manager will : -

Manage the day-to-day operation of the Trusts Financial Services section, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all receipts and payments, managed within the available cash resources and in accordance with the Trust Corporate Governance Framework

Provide a full range of technical accounting services to enable high quality internal and external financial reporting and effective balance sheet and resource management, including cash management, capital management, VAT returns and taxation expertise.

Provide significant support to the preparation of the Annual Accounts, Subsidiary Accounts, Charity accounts and auditor support.

Provide advice to staff, managers, budget and Directorate managers on complex financial and tax matters to ensure the Trust is compliant with legislation and financial governance and the organisation run economically, efficiently and effectively.

We employ 3,500 staff in 63 locations and serve a population of 2,600,000 in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham, and Tees over 3230 square miles.

Many people think the job of the ambulance service is to collect patients and take them to hospital, but we do much more!

Paramedic skills have developed hugely in recent years, meaning we carry out more treatment at the scene and en-route to hospital.

We have a dedicated clinical assessment service that allows us to provide patients with the most appropriate care from the beginning of the patient journey.

We have a specialised branch of the Trust called HART which deal with explosions or terrorist attacks.
