JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Matfen Hall Country Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate

Position: Leisure Attendant

Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour plus tips, minimum 24 hour contract

Reporting to Head of Leisure

Overview:

Matfen Hall is a privately owned five-star country house 63-bedroom hotel, spa, and golf course. Converted to a Hotel in 1999 by Sir Hugh and Lady Anna Blackett, the Hotel was purchased by Sir David and Lady Sylvia Harrison and Family in August 2020.

Since the takeover in 2020, a programme of refurbishment and repositioning of Matfen Hall has taken place, with further investment to follow. The direction of the business is to achieve 5 Red Star status within the next two years. As a Leisure Attendant you will be part of the repositioning of the Hotel from its previous status as a volume wedding venue and hotel to become a luxury property offering a high-level service with a broad product offering that endears guests to stay for several nights, working with Guests and Spa Visitors on a daily basis within the Leisure areas you will be part of a larger team across the Hotel, Golf and Spa Estate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic, and guest-focused Leisure Attendant to join our luxury leisure and spa team. The ideal candidate will have previous plant room qualifications, experience working within a 5-star hotel environment, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a warm, welcoming, and professional service to all guests throughout the leisure and spa facilities.

Offer expert guidance and advice on the safe and effective use of our premium fitness equipment, thermal suites, and leisure facilities.

Anticipate and respond promptly to guests' needs, ensuring a consistently high standard of customer care.

Serve luxury food and beverages to guests the poolside and leisure areas while maintaining exceptional service standards.

Maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene of all leisure, poolside, and spa areas in accordance with company and health & safety standards.

Conduct routine checks of equipment and facilities, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the leisure, spa, food and beverage, and housekeeping teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.

Ensure all health, safety, and operational procedures are followed, including emergency response protocols where required.

Essential Requirements

Previous Plant room qualification (or equivalent leisure industry qualification).

Experience working in a 5-star hotel, luxury spa, or high-end leisure environment.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

A strong team player with the ability to build positive working relationships.High standards of personal presentation and professionalism.

Ability to multitask while remaining calm and attentive in a fast-paced environment.

Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests.

Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Desirable Skills

Previous food and beverage service experience.

Knowledge of luxury spa and wellness facilities.

First Aid and Pool Lifeguard qualifications (desirable but not essential).

· Must have own car to commute for this role.

PREREQUISITES:

Candidates MUST be able to swim to be considered for this role.

EXPERIENCE:

One Year plus service in a similar role within a luxury Hotel setting.
