Craftworks College as part of the Brogdale CIC Group works across 6 sites delivering education to disadvantaged and disabled young people in Swale and Ashford. For a little company there is a lot going on and we have been developing our college offer. The applicant will need to be computer literate, have education to level 2 in English and Maths and be able to self manage and work as part of a team.
Craftworks College is looking for qualified and or experienced Teaching Assistants, to work with students who have behaviour issues. The person needs to be able to work with a range of special educational needs and young people, who are disabled and/or disadvantaged, studying horticulture, animal care, creative crafts and Maths and English. We have several vacancies across the College and successful applicants will be offered a range of days from 1 day to 5 days working with students and then available to support the development of other TAs and support teams across other groups.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant (TA) with experience in supporting children with challenging behaviour, particularly those with autism and other disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for working with children in a special education setting. This role is vital in creating a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters learning and development.
Duties
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for students with challenging behaviour.
- Support students with autism and other disabilities, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop effective support plans.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to enhance learning outcomes for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the teaching staff.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, understanding, and acceptance among peers.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and effective strategies for supporting individuals with these needs.
- Strong teaching skills, with the ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse learning styles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
