Technical Cranes Ltd are looking for an experienced and motivated Overhead Crane Engineer to join our expanding team covering the North East region.
This is a field-based role focused on the installation, servicing, maintenance, inspection, and breakdown support of overhead cranes and lifting equipment across a wide range of customer sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
- Attend breakdown call-outs across customer sites
- Complete inspections and preventative maintenance routines
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong client relationships
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with industry standards
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical engineering
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work safely at height
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Flexible attitude towards overtime and weekend work when required
- Commitment to health and safety standards
Preferred Experience
- Industrial plant or heavy engineering experience
- Overhead crane maintenance and inspection experience
- Knowledge of:
- 3-phase 415v motors
- Squirrel cage and wound rotor motors
- Contactor and relay control circuits
- 110v / 48v control systems
- Stop/start and reset circuits
- Inverter and variable speed drive systems
- Mechanical experience with:
- Drive couplings
- Braking systems
- Reduction gearboxes
About You
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in both electrical and mechanical systems, ideally supported by qualifications relevant to the lifting or industrial engineering sector.
You’ll be confident working independently across multiple customer locations and committed to delivering high-quality service and technical support.

Pay: £18.00-£24.00 per hour
