Full job description

We’re looking for a Programme Co-ordinator to support programmes and projects across the south of England.

These will include the Grouped Projects programme, with projects currently relating to built visitor infrastructure and compliance. You’ll work flexibly across different areas of work, and all the projects you support will contribute to delivering the National Trust’s strategy.

What it's like to work here:You’ll be part of the Trust’s internal Specialist Delivery Team: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you’ll be working with others to help make things happen.

As this role covers the South and South West regions, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust regional office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

You’ll be part of the Grouped Projects South team and also a member of the new South West Project Support Team. Both are part of the Specialist Delivery function, a multidisciplinary group of experts including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers. Like other Specialist Delivery team members, you will work flexibly across multiple projects whilst collaborating to support each other and share learning.

What you'll be doing:You’ll work closely with colleagues from the different projects you cover, including project managers and subject experts from the Trust, to get a good understanding of the projects/programmes, and provide support to ensure they run smoothly.

You'll organise project team and board meetings, co-ordinate internal finances or grant claims for external funders, and be involved in procuring goods and services for the projects.

You’ll handle the systems and processes needed to support project and progrmme delivery, including collecting, managing and maintaining accurate information across risk, governance, and finance. As part of this, you’ll be expected to get up to speed with using the Trust’s new project management system. You’ll proactively use project/programme information to report on the progress of each of the projects you cover, to a high standard and to deadlines.

excellent organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet targets

experience of collecting, maintaining and analysing information, including financial data, and producing accurate reports for a range of stakeholders

strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively across teams

experience supporting meetings, including diary management, organising logistics, preparing agendas, recording minutes and tracking actions

a proactive approach, with the ability to identify issues, monitor progress, and support risk management, compliance and continuous improvement activities.
