Wage/Salary - £17.49 Weekdays | £19.61 Weekends | Sleeping Night Rate: NMW, currently £12.71

Driver - Yes, essential. WV for use whilst on duty

Essential - Confident with manual handling/hoisting, confident swimming/supporting client during hydrotherapy, excellent communication skills.

Start Date - ASAP

Days & Hours - 36 hours contracted per week, comprising of 8, 12, 16 and 24 hour shifts. Days, waking nights and sleeping night shifts. More details below.

Part-time and bank contracts also available.

Accommodation - Carer's bedroom and ensuite for use whilst on duty.

Fantastic role available for a professional Support Worker to join a care team providing 2:1 support to a sociable, outgoing and adventurous 34-year-old.

About this Client

Living independently in a fully adapted home with the support and assistance of his care team in Shoreham, a short distance from the beach. His team provides 2:1 support, 24/7. The client lives an active lifestyle, he has many hobbies and interests, including swimming (hydrotherapy), bowling, quizzing, cooking, and watching movies. He sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury in his younger years, resulting in life changing injuries. He has complex cognitive and physical needs, reduced short-term memory and vision, complex tonal issues – predominantly low tone with dystonic patterning, and he is a wheelchair user. His speech is impaired, which at times, he finds frustrating. He has a great personality; he loves to get involved in jokes and banter. His team ensures he lives life to the full, and there is an opening for a full-time and a part-time Support Worker / PA.

Overview of Role

The care team provide a mixture of day, waking night and sleeping night support, working on a 2:1 basis, the shifts range from 8 hours to 24 hours depending on your availability, the 16- and 24-hour shift, include a sleeping night shift. You will assist with all aspects of his health, care, medical, therapy and social plan. He is reliant on his team to assist and support with all aspects of his ADLs, accessing activities and supporting him to live independently. Much more information available about this fantastic position on application. Shift pattern: 8.00 am to 8.00pm, 8.00am to 4.00pm, 4.00pm to 8.00am, and 8.00pm to 8.00am. The client is unable to offer set shifts or days, however, they can be extremely flexible for the right person for this team. The team is managed by a Team Leader and Case Manager.

Key Responsibilities

· Supporting with hoisting

· Personal care, ensuring dignity and respect are promoted in all aspect of care

· Providing emotional support and reassurance

· Working positively when dealing with individuals who struggle to regulate their emotions leading to behaviours that may challenge.

· Following person-centred support and contribute to their development.

· Encourage and enable access to social and community activities, as well as supporting with physiotherapy sessions i.e. hydro, swimming, day trips etc.

· Supporting with nutrition

· To work as part of a well-established care team
