We are looking for motivated and compassionate Bank Vaccination Staff Nurses to join Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust’s Vaccination Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in protecting the health of adults, children and young people across our communities by delivering safe, effective and person-centred vaccination programmes.
Working as part of a supportive and experienced team, you will help deliver routine and campaign-based vaccinations in a variety of settings, including community clinics, schools, outreach venues, care settings, patients won homes and other sites across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. The role offers variety, flexibility and the chance to make a real difference by improving vaccine uptake, supporting informed choice and helping to reduce health inequalities across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
You will work within national and local guidance to assess suitability for vaccination, support consent, administer vaccines safely, maintain accurate records and uphold high standards of vaccine safety, infection prevention and clinical governance. You will also provide clear, reassuring information to individuals, families and carers, responding sensitively to questions or concerns.
This role would suit a registered nurse with strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, sound clinical judgement and a flexible, team-focused approach.
As a Bank Vaccination Staff Nurse, you will support adult and childhood campaign immunisation programmes in various settings across Shropshire Telford and Wrekin. You will complete clinical assessments, confirm valid consent, safely prepare and administer vaccines, and record activity accurately on digital systems.
You will help set up and run safe, well organised vaccination clinics with the required resources, IT, PPE and clinical supplies. You will also maintain vaccine safety, including cold chain, storage, transport, administration and disposal, in line with guidance, legislation and Trust policies.
You will give clear, age-appropriate advice on vaccines, side effects and aftercare, responding empathetically to questions, concerns or hesitancy. You will also support catch-up, mop-up, outreach, domiciliary and outbreak response activity to improve access and uptake.
You will work with colleagues, families, carers, schools, GP practices, public health teams and partners to deliver accessible, high-quality vaccination services. You will work independently and as part of a team, manage changing priorities, keep accurate records, follow safeguarding and infection prevention requirements, and support audit, monitoring and improvement.
The role requires flexibility to work across locations and service hours, including possible evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to meet programme needs.
