Warehouse Supervisor – Animal feeds
HJ Lea Oakes Ltd are suppliers of top-quality animal and livestock feeds, ranging from dairy, beef and sheep to pig, poultry and wild bird seed, with national coverage. Our range includes Organic and non-GM feeds. We serve farmers and smallholders across a wide area in Cheshire, Lancashire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and North Wales. We also cater to equine customers, from professional horse trainers to amateur riders, with three dedicated sites producing feeds and herbs accredited to BETA NOPS code of practice.
We are currently looking for a full-time Warehouse Supervisor to join our team and support the running of our busy warehouse operation at our Distribution Centre in Whitchurch
Job Description and Profile
The successful candidate will be reporting into the Warehouse Assistant Manager and will have responsibility for leading a small shift of warehouse colleagues and supporting in managing the day-to-day activities. This is a very hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the quality and safety of the products and timely operations. Manual Handling experience is essential in this role
Requirements:
· Good organisational skills and ability to lead the team
· Prior experience of managing within a busy warehouse environment required (1 year)
· Current Forklift truck licence is essential – Reach truck is desirable
· Good communication skills, good command of spoken and written English
· Good numeracy and literacy
· Computer skills - the role involves working on WMS & accounting software
· The successful candidate will be energetic, friendly and hardworking, with strong attention to detail and passion for stock integrity
· Ability to work well as part of a team, including cooperation with other departments (transport, customer services, technical)
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Day to day running of a busy warehouse including leading and motivating your team of warehouse colleagues, as well as training and development of the team.
· Stringent management of the Warehouse Management System, with particular focus on stock accuracy
· Ensuring deliveries are met OTIF (On-time in-full)
· Quality checks / Inspections / Record keeping
· Loading & unloading deliveries and despatching orders
· Driving forward the hygiene standards within the department
· Close cooperation with Production dept. and the Bag Transport Coordinator
Terms:
· Full time position (basic 40 hours a week, normally 10am-6pm, between Monday and Friday, but might involve some weekend work in busy winter period. Cover on other shift patterns will be required for holidays/sickness. Overtime available).
· Overtime payable at x1.5 and x2 for hours worked over basic 40 hours a week and on weekends.
· Rate of pay starting at £15.00 p/h, rising to £15.94 p/h on completion of training.
