Job Summary
At Spencer & Bates we use traditional weaving machinery and techniques to create bespoke rugs and runners for the high-end interior design market. Our focus is on attention to detail and quality of the final product, and we rely on the skill and dedication of our team to contribute to the manufacture of outstanding products.
As a Loom Operative you are primarily responsible for operating our Victorian era shuttle looms. Due to our production process, the loom operation requires a high level of worker input.
Full training is provided.
Role is 2pm-10pm Monday - Thursday 11am-4pm Friday
Paid Breaks: 2x15min breaks and 1x30min lunch
Responsibilities
- Operating 2 Looms and a Pirn Winder
- Manual loading of weft shuttles
- On-Loom quality inspection using your keen eye for detail
- Fixing of broken warp and weft yarns
- Winding Pirns
- Assist with materials handling, including loading, unloading, and moving parts or raw materials around the workshop or warehouse
- Support the maintenance of equipment through routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and troubleshooting
- As you gain more experience you will become involved in the setup and quality checks for new designs going on loom
- A general level of flexibility to help the team in various areas when required
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently during all operations

Pay: £13.00-£16.00 per hour
