The Community Occupational Therapy team forms part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS), an integrated service within East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. The ELRS service comprises Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Community Care Workers and Assistant Practitioners across 3 cluster bases.
Community Occupational Therapists play a crucial role in assessment of and planning intervention to support people in reaching their goals. This may include rehabilitation, treatment planning, assessment for small equipment and minor adaptations and when required longer term intervention assessing for major adaptations and equipment. The service has a major adaptations team which supports design and progression of major adaptations to owner occupied properties. The service provides a mix of short term crisis work and longer term complex cases.
The opportunity has arisen for a 3 full time and 1 part time Community Occupational Therapist to join our forward thinking, dynamic and team. Based in one of the cluster bases (East Lothian Community Hospital or Musselburgh Primary Care Centre), our service is committed to developing effective and efficient ways of enabling people affected by disability to achieve their personal outcomes.
This role is a mix of short term crisis work and longer term complex cases. This allows you a variety of case work and helps balance the workload. It would be advantageous to have a broad range of knowledge, however training can and will be provided where required. We have a wonderful supportive team and work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, community care workers and telecare team.
You must hold an Occupational Therapy Diploma or Degree Qualification to apply and be registered the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
To co-ordinate the provision of adaptations to meet the needs of people with disabilities and mobility issues who live in council houses. To ensure that the housing stock in East Lothian is appropriately utilised to meet the demand for accessible housing in accordance with the Council’s statutory obligations, strategies, policies and procedures and contribute to housing policy and practice development within Community Housing.

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to Dip/BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Health Professions Council.
Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
