Full job description

Optical Assistant / Receptionist – Belson & Sons Opticians, Pitsea

Belson & Sons is a friendly, independent family-run opticians established in 1955. We are looking for a warm, organised and reliable receptionist to join the team at our Pitsea practice.

Working hours

Part-Time: Three days per week (with extras for cover)
9:00am–5:30pm
Saturdays inclusive
Closed Sundays

The role

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an important part in creating a welcoming and professional experience. Your responsibilities will include:

Greeting patients and making them feel welcome
Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
Booking, confirming and managing appointments
Maintaining accurate patient records
Taking payments and assisting with general reception administration
Contacting patients regarding appointments, recalls and collection of glasses
Supporting the optometrist and dispensing team with the smooth running of the practice
Keeping the reception and waiting areas tidy and presentable
Providing friendly and helpful customer service throughout the patient’s visit

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

Friendly, confident and approachable
Reliable, punctual and well organised
Comfortable speaking with people face-to-face and over the telephone
Able to work calmly and accurately in a busy environment
A good team player with a positive, helpful attitude
Comfortable using computers and learning new systems

Previous reception, customer service, retail or optical experience would be useful, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided for the right person.
