Description

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Attendance Officer to join our vibrant Functional Skills and GCSE teams' attendance at Sandwell College. This full-time role, fixed term until December 2026 role is perfect for someone passionate about supporting students and ensuring their success through excellent attendance and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities

Ensuring all unexplained absences are followed up and resolved promptly
Collaborating with course tutors to identify and support students with attendance challenges
Communicating effectively with parents, learners, and carers to address attendance concerns
Using college data to track attendance trends, maintain accurate records, and report on progress
Monitoring students on the at-risk register and liaising with Welfare and Student Support Teams to implement improvement strategies
Attending meetings and contributing to discussions on attendance strategies and interventions

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Experience working with learners or young people
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a keen eye for detail in record-keeping
Experience working within educational settings or with cross-college teams
Familiarity with attendance monitoring systems or data analysis tools
