The Role
The Yard Foreman will join our operations team to manage, coordinate and control the hundreds of daily movements within our busy head office yard. - This isn't an ordinary foreman position, there are always a lot of moving parts, and attention to detail and organisation is hugely important.
- Preparation: Plan the preparation, repair, and maintenance of equipment from trailers to single units using our workshop app.
- Maintenance: pre and post hire checks on all units to ensure damage is charged, repaired and if necessary units refurbished.
- Health & Safety; Compliance, Monitoring, and Reporting, maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
- Stock Control; ensuring all equipment is ready for hire and checked on return, arranging repairs, and raising relevant invoices. Reduce stock wastage and ensure all parties have the correct equipment when required. Sourcing parts at the most cost-effective prices.
- Organisation; Ensuring vehicles are loaded & unloaded in a timely fashion, ensuring the drivers leave on time.
- HR management of your team of yard staff, including; approving timesheets, shift patterns, training and developing as well as motivating.
- Communication: the fast pace role, requires a high level of communication between the driving team, operations managers, customers, and sales team, to ensure the highest possible service is given to our customers.
- Raising orders, sourcing parts, and negotiating rates from suppliers
- Management on call rota
Experience and Expertise
The successful candidate for the Yard Foreman will have the following skills and experiences:
- Have a hire, logistics, or operational background
- Communication skills to provide rounded opinions and clear recommendations
- Hands-on and proactive attitude to pursue and complete tasks
- Pro-active, lead and motivate a team
- Strong computer skills including; MS Office, apps and hire software
You may not have experience in every aspect of the role before, but that is ok, you will receive ongoing support and development that will provide you with the skills and knowledge required for a successful career, all we ask for is a proactive motivated attitude, high attention to detail and keen to share your ideas to make the role a success.
