Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Analytical Chemist to join our team, specializing in the testing of fuels, crude oil, and chemical products. The successful candidate will perform chemical analyses on marine fuel samples, prepare technical reports, and communicate effectively with clients. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage client interactions professionally.
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of petrochemical test methods and laboratory procedures, including sample registration, analytical testing, data interpretation, and report preparation. Although the successful candidate may not perform every analytical test, they should have a comprehensive understanding of the testing process, from sample requirements and analytical techniques to instrumentation, data analysis, and result interpretation.
The candidate should also be familiar with statistical analysis, technical writing, and scientific documentation, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and support the execution of research and laboratory projects.
Duties
- Adhere to laboratory safety rules and good laboratory practices.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with analysts, supervisors, managers, and scientists.
- Anticipate project needs and ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret analytical data to prepare comprehensive technical reports.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for data entry, data management, and report generation.
- Ensure reports are accurate, clear, and delivered to clients in a timely manner.
- Respond to client inquiries, provide updates on testing progress, and explain analytical results clearly and professionally.
- Handle client emails and phone calls efficiently, ensuring prompt and effective communication.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance technical knowledge and expertise.
- Prepare technical updates, white papers, and other technical documents as required.
Qualification & Experience
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 year of experience working in standard laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with analytical chemistry instrumentation such as ICP, GCMS spectroscopy, DSC, titration and chromatography techniques.
- Candidates without exacting requirements may be considered if they demonstrate appropriate knowledge, talent, or skills for this position.
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Effective communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
