We are looking to recruit an organised and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll experience who is looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive environment.
Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in the accurate and timely processing of payrolls, ensuring employees are paid correctly and in full compliance with HMRC legislation and Company policies.
Working closely with HR, Finance and operational teams, you will support payroll processing, maintain payroll systems, administer statutory payroll requirements and respond to employee payroll queries.
This role offers excellent opportunities to broaden your payroll knowledge, including exposure to payroll compliance, pension administration, statutory reporting and wider payroll projects.
- Support the accurate and timely processing of weekly payrolls.

Maintain employee records within Kronos and associated payroll systems.

Prepare, validate and process timesheets, manual payroll adjustments and payroll inputs.

Process holiday, sickness, overtime, travel, fares and other payroll elements.

Administer payroll changes for new starters, leavers and employee amendments.

Update HMRC notifications including tax codes, National Insurance categories, student loan deductions and statutory payroll information.

Support the submission of Real Time Information (RTI) returns and other statutory payroll submissions.

Administer Royal London pension activities and payroll-related benefits.

Produce payroll reports and maintain payroll databases.

Support month-end payroll activities and statutory returns.

Respond promptly and professionally to payroll queries.

Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

Maintain payroll documentation and records to audit standards.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience in a Payroll Administrator or Payroll Officer position.

A good understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.

Excellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.

Strong organisational and time management skills.

Experience using payroll and/or time and attendance systems (UKG Ready experience would be advantageous).

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

The ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
A CIPP qualification or payroll-related qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
