Job Description:
Soulcarers LTD is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Mental Health Support Worker. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, helping them to improve their overall well-being and quality of life. No personal care involved!! You will be enabling and supporting individuals in their homes and in the local community. This role is community based and requires travelling to individuals homes, therefore a driving licence and own vehicle are required.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one support to individuals with mental health difficulties, promoting their independence, self-care, and personal growth.
2. Assist individuals to work towards their goals laid out in their personalised care plans.
3. Encourage and support individuals in participating in social activities and hobbies, and integrating into the community.
4. Monitor and document the progress and behaviours of individuals, reporting any concerns or changes to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professional.
5. Provide emotional support, active listening, and empathy to individuals in crisis or distress.
7. Assist with daily living activities, such as meal preparation, maintaining personal and home hygiene, and medication management, as needed.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
9. Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and ethical standards when handling sensitive information.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience in a similar role or a relevant qualification in mental health or social care is preferred but not essential.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with individuals and colleagues.
3. Compassion, patience, and empathy towards individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
4. Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively.
5. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Basic computer literacy, as record keeping is digital.
7. A commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to participate in training programs as required.
8. A DBS check will be required.
9. Driving license and own vehicle are essential.
