Ashwood Grounds Maintenance is a long-established family business now being driven forward by the next generation, and we've got big plans over the next few years.
We're building towards becoming one of the North East's leading commercial grounds maintenance and landscaping companies, and we're looking for the right person to help us get there.
This role is ideal for:
- An experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative ready to step up
- An existing Team Leader looking for more responsibility
- Somebody who enjoys leading people and takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Someone who's frustrated where they are and knows they have more to offer
You'll be trusted to run your own team, manage sites to a high standard and play an important part in maintaining the quality and reputation Ashwood has built.
This isn't a role where you'll simply hand out instructions.
You'll be expected to lead from the front.

You'll be responsible for:
- Leading a small team of Grounds Maintenance Operatives
- Organising daily work on site
- Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
- Strimming, edging and hedge cutting
- Shrub maintenance and weed control
- Winter maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance
- Carrying out daily vehicle and machinery checks
- Reporting defects, health & safety concerns and site issues
- Helping train and develop new members of the team
- Maintaining excellent relationships with clients on site
What we're looking for
Previous grounds maintenance experience is preferred, along with experience leading or supervising a small team.
However, we're just as interested in attitude as we are experience.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience in grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor role
- Experience leading or supervising a team (preferred)
- PA1 & PA6 qualifications (desirable)
- Trailer towing experience (desirable)
