Our Team

Our Asbestos and Occupational Disease team specialises in disease claims, with particular expertise in asbestos-related cases and representing mesothelioma patients and their families.

This role will be based in our Southampton office.

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

As a Paralegal, you’ll support Solicitors with their caseloads from the very beginning, giving you the chance to gain real, hands-on experience in a law firm.

Key Responsibilities:

Take instructions from clients and assist with providing legal advice, including gathering evidence and supporting litigation where appropriate.
Achieve time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working.
Attend and contribute to team/practice area meetings, complying with directions and decisions to achieve team objectives.
Keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice, attending training events to maintain legal knowledge and best practice.

About You

Essential criteria

A demonstrable interest in pursuing a legal career within Asbestos and Occupational Disease work.
Holds a law degree.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to show empathy and compassion when supporting clients through sensitive and often challenging circumstances.
Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to handle telephone calls professionally and provide clear, courteous advice.
A positive, proactive and can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared caseloads.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

Desirable criteria

Previous Paralegal experience within Personal Injury law.
Exposure to or understanding of Asbestos-related or Occupational Disease claims.
Experience handling client interactions in a legal or professional services environment.
