The Role
We have a highly regarded, team of engineering experts, with a wealth of industry experience. We have an extensive product range of professional commercial refrigeration products supplied to UK and global markets. Our engineering team also provide engineering support to our manufacturing and technical service teams. Due to retirement we are looking to replace this role.
The Electrical Design Engineer will report to the Williams Refrigeration Group Refrigeration Manager. You will be an integral part of the Williams UK and Williams International engineering team, working closely with our key suppliers and technical partners.
Electrical design of our products
Working in close association with our refrigeration and production engineering teams, you will be responsible for the overall electrical system design and management of our new product development activities including:-
- Identify new innovations, interpret and translate customer and application needs into new electrical designs to support our new product development
- Design and program the electrical and electronic controls used within our products by working in association with our specialist partners
- Electrical control panel design incorporating 3 phase power supply
- Industrial networking systems and IoT connectivity development
- Electrical loading and technical calculations
- Specification of electrical components
Test & risk assess products for safety, quality, and eco design values
Maintaining accurate temperature control, and optimising energy efficiency are core functions of our product design and performance values. We have leading test facilities, and also work closely with third party test houses to ensure the highest of performance standards are upheld. Our electrical
design engineer is required to -
- Ensure products comply with electrical health and safety requirements
- Adhere to UK, EU and International Electrical safety standards
- Maintain electrical safety procedures with the business
- Lead the evaluation and advance of new electronic controller design and
- appliance testing
- You should have experience of appliance testing & commissioning
Upholding best practice electrical conformity standards
The role will be central to upholding our ISO quality, safety and environmental
standards. A key element of the role includes the -
- Preparation of electrical documents including Wiring diagrams, control panel layouts and appliance manuals
- Maintain Product technical files for CE / UKCA / ETL and Third Party test house verification
- Defining the regulatory and safety requirements of our product designs to the Low Voltage, EMC and Machinery directives
Electrical engineering support to our manufacturing & technical teams
Provide best electrical work standards and safety advice to colleagues by:-
- Conducting electrical safety product audits
- Production line inspections of electrical build standards
- Colleague support and training in best practice electrical work methods
- Periodic on site supervision and fault finding
The Person
This is a key role in our engineering team and a great chance to work within a leading international manufacturing group. We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
- A passion for Electrical Engineering – HNC/ HND or degree in Electrical engineering. C&G NVQ 3 Electrical + electronics Installation to IET BS 7671 18th Edition.
- Highly motivated and confident with a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles. Competent in all technical aspects of electrical system design and development.
- Diligent with an attention to detail, with a flexible approach to delivering solutions to electrical engineering, wiring and technical problems.
- Experience of programming PLCs would be an advantage along with knowledge of WS CAD. However full training will be given to the successful candidate.
- Hands-on management style. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships within the business at all levels. You will be required to provide electrical engineering input and contribution at senior management level.
- A Can Do make it happen person, able to manage a dynamic workload. Commercial awareness and ability to work with precision and pace, in order to meet project timescales and budget objectives.
- Working hours are generally 37.5 per week which are in line with our King's Lynn Production team being 7.00 am to 15.35 Monday to Thursday and 7.00 am to 12.10 Friday. These can be negotiated locally to suit.
- This role is based at our King's Lynn Head Office.
Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
