Job description
As Associate Director you will support our Corporate and Leverage Finance customers across the Midlands. You will also form part of new business deal teams as we look to win new customers in both segments.
We are responsible for supporting businesses across Midlands so that they grow and prosper to strengthen the local economy. We have a history of punching above our weight in local market and have ambitious growth plans as a modern mutual business banking function.
You will be able to display strong relationship management skills and have experience of delivering a fantastic customer experience. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate strong risk management and credit assessment capabilities.
As a team we have a reputation for developing talent and as the team grows there will be opportunities for high performers to move to other roles.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this role, you will be part of our growing Business Banking team, meeting with and supporting customers across your assigned region. You'll be covering the Midlands region so will need to be based locally as you will be expected to travel regularly across this region. Additionally, there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our locations. These are currently expected to take place monthly in Birmingham, however the location may vary. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here .

You’ll assist with the preparation of detailed credit applications in respect of existing customers and new proposals, including contributing to the preparation and analysis of financial models alongside instructing, completing and processing internal and external documentation to ensure loan and security documentation is prepared and in order and due diligence is correctly scoped.
You’ll provide our new customers with a seamless on-boarding experience, working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to support Corporate Directors, ensuring compliance on all credit, operations, loan administration and other risk and administrative matters as necessary.
By monitoring ongoing compliance with the facility agreement and covenants, you’ll ensure that all pre-and post-deal housekeeping and internal compliance requirements are met.
Effective liaison with customers, various Agency functions and Credit teams in respect of existing customer reviews and consent requests.
About you
As a minimum requirement you’ll have:
Good experience of supporting businesses and delivering outstanding B2B customer service, and a passion and desire to grow experience within the larger corporate banking market
Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills (including Excel financial modelling skills) with an ability to understand and interpret financial statements and due diligence reports.

Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes.
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
