You will join a 300+ engineer international R&D team, with this position based in the Spennymoor Centre of Competence for Emergency Lighting and for Smart Sensor design.

The primary focus of the position is to support the development of Emergency lighting and Smart sensor technology. You will be working on a mixture of AC and DC systems, as well as embedded system design with an emphasis on enjoying yourself working in a friendly and supportive environment. This will be done via the Degree Apprenticeship route through Newcastle University to achieve a L6 BEng in Product Design and Development Engineering.
Responsibilities
· Design and develop innovative embedded electronic systems, supporting new product development from concept through to production.
· Create schematics, PCB layouts and technical documentation to support design, testing and manufacturing activities.
· Collaborate with global engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure products are designed for quality, reliability and efficient manufacture.
· Develop, execute and help automate testing methodologies to validate product performance, functionality and compliance.
· Support design reviews, laboratory testing and problem-solving activities, contributing to continuous product improvement.
· Ensure products meet relevant industry standards and assist with certification, approval and compliance activities.
· Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, assisting with prototype builds, process validation and production ramp-up.
Skills & Experience
· 3 A Levels (or equivalent qualifications) at Grade C or above in Engineering or relevant STEM subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Control Systems or Manufacturing, with a minimum of 112 UCAS points.
· GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Mathematics, English and at least one additional STEM subject, preferably Science, Physics and/or Technology.
· A genuine interest in engineering, technology and innovation, with a strong desire to learn and develop new technical skills.
· Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate work and apply a methodical approach to problem-solving.
· Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate information before making decisions.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to collaborate with colleagues across different teams.
· A proactive and positive attitude, with the enthusiasm to contribute to team success and continuous improvement initiatives.
