About Us

Fix It is a specialist Post 16 College, that offers alternative, vocational education for learners ages 16-24 with SEND or additional needs.

We aim to improve the life chances, career choices and opportunities of all our learners, many of whom have experienced substantial barriers to learning in the past. We support our learners by offering a more hands on, vocational focus to learning, while embedding crucial life skills and functional skills into the curriculum. As a college, we offer primarily Motor Vehicle focused qualifications, in a workshop environment that looks and feels like a 'real' garage.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced Behaviour and Attendance Mentor to join our team.

About the Role

As a Behaviour and Attendance Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping learners achieve their full potential by promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, and removing barriers to learning. Working collaboratively with learners, curriculum teams, parents/carers, and external agencies, you will help to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages engagement, raises aspirations, and supports learners to succeed both academically and personally.

Terms and Conditions

Salary: £28000 - £31000 per annum, full time equivalent

Working hours: 35 Hours per week. Term time plus 2 weeks Per annum (41 Weeks). Salary will be pro-rata, based on weeks worked per annum.

Fix It is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Key Responsibilities

Attendance Management
Monitor learner attendance, punctuality, and engagement across the college.
Identify learners at risk of poor attendance and implement early intervention strategies.
Conduct attendance reviews, meetings, and action planning with learners and parents/carers where appropriate.
Maintain accurate attendance records and analyse attendance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Work collaboratively with curriculum managers and tutors to improve attendance performance.
Produce regular attendance reports for senior leadership teams.
Behaviour Support
Promote and uphold the college's behaviour standards, policies, and values.
Support learners displaying challenging, disruptive, or concerning behaviours.
Investigate behavioural incidents and ensure appropriate actions are taken in line with college procedures.
Develop, coordinate, and deliver targeted intervention programmes that encourage positive learner behaviours and appropriate engagement within the centre and the broader community.
Develop and implement targeted interventions to improve attendance, remove barriers to learning, and promote sustained learner participation and success.
Develop and implement behaviour support plans for individual learners.
Provide restorative interventions and conflict resolution support.
Work with teaching staff to develop strategies that encourage positive learner behaviour and engagement.
Learner Support and Safeguarding
Build positive professional relationships with learners to encourage engagement and achievement.
Act as a key point of contact for learners experiencing personal, social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing processes, ensuring concerns are reported and managed appropriately.
Refer learners to internal and external support services when required.
Support vulnerable and at-risk learners to remain engaged in education.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise effectively with parents, carers, employers, local authorities, and external agencies.
Attend multi-agency meetings and represent the college where required.
Work collaboratively with curriculum staff, pastoral teams, safeguarding leads, and support services.
Data Management and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of interventions, meetings, behavioural incidents, and attendance concerns.
Analyse attendance and behaviour data to evaluate the impact of interventions.
Prepare reports and recommendations for managers and senior leaders.
College Contribution
Support college events, enrolment activities, open days, and learner induction programmes.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of student support services.
Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and British Values throughout all activities

About you

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience in working with and understanding SEND learners in a similar setting
Has experience with monitoring learner attendance, punctuality and engagement within an educational setting
Has experience of supporting learners with attendance, behaviour or wellbeing needs.
Holds a Relevant level 3 qualification in Education, Social Work or Youth Work (or similar)
Holds a Level 2 Qualification (or Equivalent) in English and Maths
Has experience of managing challenging behaviour using positive, trauma informed, individualised approaches
Has a good understanding of School/College MIS, attendance and behaviour monitoring systems.
Has familiarity with monitoring or implementing learner behaviour support plans
Has a proven track record of improving attendance in difficult to reach, disengaged and disadvantaged learners.
Has a history of working with young people, parents/carers, and external agencies in collaboration to support learner progress
Has a good understanding of a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and the SEND code of practice
Is able to establish good relationships with young people and families with complex needs
Has excellent knowledge, experience and qualifications in Safeguarding within a School/College environment
Has good computer literacy, and experience of using school/college MIS software
Will be a good role model for our learners, leading by example.
Is patient, adaptable and able to communicate well with learners and staff

Pay: £28,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
