Full job description

Duties and responsibilities:
We are looking for a support worker to assist in assessing needs, planning, implementing and reviewing programs and care plans of the Young People in our care. Provide support to Children and young people who are being looked after in the community, so as to meet their assessed needs. Such support to be governed by legislation and guided by the principles and policies of Holywell Children’s Services.

The post holder is expected to carry out their duties and responsibilities in accordance with Holywell Children’s Services Policies and Procedures and the Care Group Statement of Principles and Standards of Conduct.

Core Duties:

To promote Holywell Children’s principles and values.
To help Children and young people express their views, involve them in planning for their own future.
To promote service provision which responds to individual needs in a multi-cultural society.
To work alongside others to plan and prepare Children young people for transition from residential care either to return home or into foster care.
To promote the educational training and employment needs of Children and young people and actively encourage Children and young people to achieve their full potential.
To develop and deliver group work around issues relevant to Children and young people’s needs.
To participate in the assessment of Children young people’s needs and to contribute to reviews, meetings care plans with Children and young people.
Participate with the production of plans as required by the Children the 1989 Children’s Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters and any other relevant legislation.
To prepare, implement and review programs of work with Children and young people.
To help Children and young people to find ways to deal with difficulties or vulnerabilities.
To recognize and respond to the needs of Children and young people with disabilities.
To maintain appropriate records, write reports and attend and participate in meetings as required.
To undertake relevant training.
To attend and participate in staff meetings within Childrens residential services
To liaise with other stakeholders to monitor and respond to the needs of Children and young people.
To carry out clerical and/or administrative tasks associated with the above.
To assist the Holywell Children’s Services in developing its children and family service policies.
To ensure that Children and young people have access to all relevant information regarding their rights.
To maintain confidentiality.
Attend team meetings.
Be available for supervision.
Be flexible to work unsociable hours.
To use your own initiative in improving service

Other requirements:

Previous experience working with children is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
Your values align with Holywell Children's Services
Familiarity with IT systems for record keeping and communication.
A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to providing high-quality support.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, nights or weekends as required.
GCSEs or equivalent.
NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or willingness to work towards one.
