Water Treatment Engineer

About the Role
As a Water Treatment Engineer within our newly established Water Treatment division, you will play a key role in maintaining, monitoring and improving domestic and commercial water systems across a diverse client base.

You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive water treatment and water hygiene works, ensuring systems are maintained safely, effectively and in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Water Hygiene & Treatment: Carry out planned and reactive water treatment and water hygiene services across client sites.
- Water Quality Testing: Undertake routine water quality testing, including temperature, pH, chlorine and other relevant parameters, recording results accurately and taking appropriate action where required.
- Flushing & Temperature Monitoring: Carry out routine and remedial flushing of domestic water systems, including low-use and infrequently used outlets, and undertake temperature monitoring to support effective water hygiene management.
- TMV Testing & Maintenance: Inspect, test, service and maintain Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs), including temperature checks, cleaning, servicing and adjustment where required.
- Legionella Control: Support the effective management and control of Legionella risks through routine monitoring, sampling, flushing, temperature checks and remedial works in accordance with client schemes and relevant guidance.
- Cooling Tower Maintenance: Carry out cleaning, descaling, inspection and general maintenance of cooling towers and associated water treatment systems.
- Water Treatment Systems: Inspect and monitor pumps, filters, dosing equipment and associated plant to ensure systems are operating effectively.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out preventative maintenance, minor repairs, component replacement and remedial works to maintain system reliability.
- Sampling: Undertake water sampling as required and ensure samples are correctly collected, labelled and submitted in accordance with procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate service reports, water temperature records, flushing records, test results, sampling information and maintenance logs.
- Compliance: Ensure all works are completed in accordance with relevant legislation, HSE guidance, industry standards, company procedures and client-specific water hygiene management plans.
- Reactive Works: Respond promptly to equipment failures, water hygiene issues, leaks and other water-related emergencies, minimising disruption to clients.
- Client Liaison: Maintain a professional relationship with clients, providing clear communication regarding completed works, findings and any remedial recommendations.
- Risk Identification: Identify potential water hygiene risks and make appropriate recommendations for remedial action or further investigation.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Working Hours: 07:00-16:00 - 08:00 – 17:00
- Overtime: Opportunities available, including additional hours where required for urgent or reactive works.
Qualifications & Experience
- Water Treatment Experience: Proven experience within water treatment, water hygiene or a similar engineering environment – Essential.
- Water Hygiene Knowledge: Good understanding of domestic water systems, water hygiene and Legionella control.
- Flushing & TMV Experience: Practical experience carrying out system flushing, temperature monitoring and TMV testing/maintenance – Desirable.
- Technical Ability: Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot water treatment systems and carry out preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Water Management Systems: Experience working with a variety of water treatment and water management systems – Essential.
- L8 Knowledge/Certification: Knowledge of HSG274 and ACOP L8. L8 certification/training desirable but not essential.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to complete accurate service documentation and communicate professionally with clients.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Licence/Certification:
