At Gem Cable Solutions, we’re expanding and looking for a talented Production Technician to help us push the boundaries of bespoke cable and harness manufacture — servicing sectors like Telecoms, Broadcast, Satellite, Transport, and Aerospace.
What You’ll Do (in Brief)
As a Production Technician, you’ll be a core part of our manufacturing team, working on cable assemblies, wiring, harnesses, looms, and more.
· Manufacture aerospace wiring harnesses, cable looms, and assemblies in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 requirements
· Interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, schematics, wiring schedules, and build documentation
· Perform precision cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, splicing, and termination of wire and cable
· Assemble and install connectors, contacts, back shells, strain reliefs, and environmental sealing components
· Carry out complex lacing, braiding, sleeving, routing, and securing of harnesses to aerospace standards
· Apply heat-shrink, potting, shielding, and environmental protection materials as required
· Work to the best practice workmanship and consistent application of standards across the team
· Work strictly in accordance with aerospace quality systems (AS9100 environments where applicable)
· Follow strict tool calibration, equipment validation, and inspection traceability rules
· Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including safe handling of materials and chemicals
· Work strictly to controlled documentation including build packs, BOMs, and manufacturing routers
· Record non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support quality investigations where required
What We’re Looking for:
Minimum 1 year of experience in soldering and crimping (please don’t apply if you don’t have this)
· Fine soldering skills (advantageous)
· Basic IT skills (Excel, Word) Ability to interpret technical drawings
· Familiarity with electromechanical tooling
· A methodical, fast-paced approach to work
· Self-motivation, good initiative and solid communication skills
· Understanding or experience of industry quality standards (IPC-A-620, ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ISO 14001) is a plus
