The School of Medicine is looking for two Research Technicians
The particular focus of the post/s is to allow training of the individual in cell and cancer biology, having had previous experience in another field studying towards PhD level, particularly in enzymology or mass spectrometry. You will be reliable, creative, knowledgeable and hard-working, capable of delivering high-quality data in a timely manner. You will have published as first author in peer reviewed journals. You will be flexible as some work may necessitate working outside normal hours. You will have all the necessary support from the team, and training will be provided, but you will be expected to be able to work independently and as part of a team as required. Problem-solving skills and scientific rigour are essential traits.
There are two positions available, each for a one year ‘discipline hopping fellowship”, intended to provide an opportunity to acquire skills in cell and cancer biology for someone engaged in more analytical or basic science who will be completing PhD studies. In addition to acquiring new skills, the individual will work on projects related to development of (and understanding the mechanisms of action of) novel anti-cancer drugs. The role will be based in the School of Medicine in Professor David Harrison’s group.
