Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Engineer to lead our engineering department. The successful candidate will oversee the maintenance, development, and optimisation of our technical systems and infrastructure. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong management skills, capable of supervising a team of engineers and technicians. The Chief Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement across all engineering functions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with comprehensive technical expertise and leadership capabilities to contribute to organisational success.

Duties

Lead and manage the engineering team, providing guidance, supervision, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional development.
Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
Develop and implement maintenance programmes for machinery, electrical systems, and infrastructure to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
Analyse schematics, technical drawings, and system specifications to troubleshoot issues effectively.
Supervise the installation, calibration, and repair of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation equipment.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by conducting risk assessments and implementing safety protocols.
Collaborate with other departments to identify operational needs and develop innovative solutions for process improvements.
Prepare technical reports, maintenance schedules, and project documentation for management review.
Stay updated on technological advancements in mechanical and electrical systems to recommend upgrades or new implementations.

Requirements

Proven management experience within an engineering environment, with a strong background in supervising teams.
Extensive project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and system documentation.
Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills in English.
Mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is essential for troubleshooting complex systems.
Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation technology.
Sound understanding of maintenance procedures for industrial equipment and infrastructure.
Demonstrable supervisory experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
A recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
