Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Floor Layer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring in commercial and residential properties. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently within a team environment. The ideal applicant will possess a strong background in construction-related tasks and be proficient with a range of tools and techniques utilised in flooring installation.
Duties
- Prepare subfloor surfaces by cleaning, levelling, and ensuring they are suitable for flooring installation
- Measure and cut flooring materials accurately using hand tools and power tools
- Install various types of flooring including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and carpet according to schematics and specifications
- Use carpentry skills to create precise cuts and fitments for complex floor layouts
- Apply adhesives or other fixing methods as required for different flooring types
- Perform finishing tasks such as sanding, sealing, or painting to ensure a smooth and professional appearance
- Maintain a clean work environment by organising tools and disposing of waste materials responsibly
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times during the installation process
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction with a focus on flooring installation or related trades
- Proficiency with hand tools such as chisels, hammers, saws, and measuring tapes
- Knowledge of carpentry principles and ability to interpret schematics accurately
- Experience with power tools including drills, saws, sanders, and grinders
- Familiarity with construction painting techniques is advantageous
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics to execute precise installations
- Good organisational skills with an organised approach to work tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various working environments
- Physical fitness to handle lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
