A Business Development Manager (BDM) drives company growth by securing new customers, entering new markets, and building strategic partnerships. They bridge the gap between sales and strategic planning, analysing market trends to develop plans that increase revenue, boost profitability, and expand the company's footprint. They sit on the commercial side of a business, bridging sales and strategy to create long-term revenue and profitability.

- Spotting Opportunities: Researching markets and competitors to identify new business leads, gaps in the market, or areas for expansion.
- Client Outreach & Sales: Proactively contacting prospective clients, pitching solutions, and negotiating contracts to close deals.
- Relationship Management: Building and nurturing long-term relationships with new customers, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Internal Collaboration: Working with marketing, product, and sales teams to align product offerings and marketing campaigns with growth objectives.

Successful candidates will be supported to develop their career within the Business Development Management profession, including potential progression into other Business Management roles, Senior Business Development Manager, People Management, Specialised Strategy roles, or broader digital and service leadership roles.
Essential Criteria
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Sales & Revenue Tracking: A proven track record of securing new clients, hitting sales targets, and managing long sales cycles.
- Research & Market Intelligence: Ability to analyse market trends, evaluate competitors, and understand complex customer pain points.
- Proposal Writing: Capability to design compelling business pitches, negotiate contracts, and oversee bid-tendering processes.
- Communication & Pitching: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the confidence to pitch to C-level executives and key stakeholders.
- Negotiation & Persuasion: Tactful diplomacy and the ability to find mutually beneficial compromises that secure contracts and build long-term trust.
- Strategic Thinking: A forward-looking mindset to anticipate industry shifts and map out viable growth strategies.
- Resilience: The drive to handle rejection, navigate challenging market dynamics, and maintain momentum during the sales process.
- Relationship Building: Strong networking capabilities and the interpersonal skills needed to act as a trusted advisor to clients.
- Self-Motivation: A highly driven, goal-oriented mindset necessary for autonomous working and proactive outreach.
Desirable Criteria
It would be beneficial if candidates can demonstrate:
- Experience: Proven experience of demonstrating B2B sales or business development experience, ideally in a related industry.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, or a relevant sector-specific discipline is standard.
- Technology & CRM: Proficiency in managing client data and tracking pipelines using software like Dynamics 365.

Terms and Conditions

The successful candidates will join on the minimum of the pay band.
