At CareCo, we make every day easier for people. As the UK's leading mobility retailer, our goal is to make sure that everybody who needs a helping hand not only gets one, but that they get the one that works for them.
About the Role
CareCo is seeking a Junior Technical Author who will be responsible for creating and maintaining clear, accurate, and user-focused Instructions for Use (IFUs), and related product documentation to support customers and colleagues in understanding and using our products effectively. This will be achieved through exceptional attention to detail, strong written communication and proofreading skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into straightforward documentation.
As a Junior Technical Author, you will:

- Use InDesign, or similar desktop publishing software, to design, format, and produce professional, on-brand IFUs and product documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineers, Product Support, Suppliers, and internal teams to gather, verify, and meticulously document technical information. Work closely and proactively with Compliance, Graphic Designers, and the Photographer to ensure IFUs and supporting visual content are accurate, compliant, and produced to a consistent standard.
- Review new product development samples alongside the Product Technical Inspector to develop a practical understanding of product functionality and to ensure documentation accurately reflects product use when composing the IFU.
- Create and maintain IFU photography requirement lists, briefing the Photographer and Graphic Designers on the shots and visual assets needed to support clear, compliant product documentation.
- Define and own consistency of style, tone, and terminology across all IFUs and technical documents.
- Review and incorporate feedback from colleagues, customers, and product testing to improve clarity, usability, and compliance of documentation.
- Own the creation and maintenance of IFU template guides, along with wider templates, style guides, and documentation standards, ensuring alignment with UKCA/UK MDR requirements and ISO/IEC 82079-1 (preparation of IFU).
- Act as the subject matter expert for documentation standards, templates and IFU best practice.
- Lead continuous improvement of the clarity, quality, and effectiveness of IFUs and other technical content.
- Engage in training and personal development to strengthen technical knowledge, writing skills, and familiarity with industry best practices.
