Metroweigh are the company for you! We are seeking an experienced scale engineer to carry out calibration and maintenance of weighing equipment in the field.
Metroweigh are leaders in high quality weighing solutions and in-line inspection systems, supplying calibrations, commissioning, repairs and servicing to the food manufacturing industry, along with pharmaceutical and freight forwarding.
Job purpose
This Field Service Engineer role has responsibility for providing on-site calibration, technical support, and maintenance of our weighing equipment and systems. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Scope
You are expected to work with a variety of weighing equipment. This will predominantly be scales and balances however, other weighing equipment e.g. inline inspection equipment, industrial weighing devices etc. may also be included in your duties.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Carry out calibration of weighing equipment to industry accreditation standards and customer expectations.
2. Carry out maintenance of weighing equipment and accurately inform customers when repair is required.
3. Carry out repair of weighing equipment to appropriate standards
4. Progress sales of weighing equipment with new and existing customers, giving expert advice.
5. Physically moving test weights in 20kg denominations to complete calibration work may be required.
6. Frequently travel to customer sites to carry out calibration and repair work or other tasks, as necessary.
7. Provide excellent customer service in the field and adhere to all Health and Safety procedures as required.
8. Participate fully as a member of the Metroweigh team, providing cross-cover and support as required to ensure a network of service is delivered across the UK.
9. Participate in appropriate training activities to ensure that knowledge of health and safety, equipment and procedures remain current.
10. Additional reasonable duties may be requested from time to time by a manager.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Experience in electrical fault finding and maintenance of machinery
- Ability to work well with a wide range of external customers and colleagues, building good working relationships within short timescales
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Ability to travel to customer sites and a full valid UK Driving Licence
- Physical ability to frequently and repetitively lift single weights up to 20kg
- IT literate with the ability to complete paperwork correctly first time
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in working practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure
- Ability to work on your own initiative and deliver results without supervision
Desirable:
- Experience in the weighing industry
- Electronics or electro-mechanical qualification, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in calibration protocols
- Experience in computer programming
