We are looking for an experienced and motivated Heavy Plant Fitter / Welder to join our workshop team. This is a varied, hands-on role maintaining our fleet of heavy plant and recycling equipment.
The Role
Working alongside our experienced Workshop Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy plant and recycling machinery to keep our operation running efficiently.
Your primary focus will be on maintaining equipment such as loading shovels, excavators, grab handlers, trommels and other recycling plant, carrying out mechanical repairs, welding, fabrication and preventative maintenance. You may also assist with basic HGV servicing and repairs when required, although the role is predominantly focused on plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair heavy plant and recycling equipment.
- Work on loading shovels, excavators, grab handlers, trommels and associated machinery.
- Carry out welding and fabrication repairs to plant, machinery, skips and site equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic faults.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Respond to plant breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Replace wear parts and complete routine servicing.
- Assist with basic HGV maintenance when required.
- Work closely with the Workshop Mechanic to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience maintaining heavy plant or recycling equipment.
- Competent welding and fabrication skills.
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A practical, proactive approach with good fault-finding skills.
- Reliable, hardworking and committed to high standards.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on heavy plant.
- Welding or fabrication experience.

Pay: £42,120.00-£46,800.00 per year
