Research Associate (Phylogenomics)

The researcher will join DECODE research programme led by the Earlham Institute in partnership with RBG Kew. The research associate primary place of employment will RBG Kew to lead the genomic assemblies of indigenous crops and identify promising improvement genes. Additionally, the researcher will be able to join annual meetings at The Earlham Institute and conferences.

We are seeking candidates holding a PhD/D.Phil degree or equivalent in relevant research field (e.g. plant biology, genomics, agricultural sciences) and with bioinformatics/computational biology experience, particularly, in comparative genomics and genome assembly pipelines. Our ideal candidate will be a team player who can work on their own initiative and is enthusiastic about tutoring others. Experience working with ortholog search and knowledge of sub-Saharan indigenous crops are desirable. Detailed person specification can be found in job description document attached to this advertisement.

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary for this position is £41,205 per annum [Band D]
