Full job description

We are looking for at least two Minibus Drivers to join the Transport Team at our age 4-18 co-educational school located in Barnes, London SW13. Please check our website for further information www.harrodian.com

We have a number of shifts available:

1. The Get-to-School and Get-Home-from-School bus journey for 40 hours per week, from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and 3:30pm to 7:30pm on Mondays to Fridays during term times (as published on the school website).

2. The Get-to-School bus journey for 20 hours per week, from 6.00 am to 10.00 am on Mondays to Fridays during term times (as published on the school website), plus 2 4-hour shifts in the afternoon and additional afternoon shifts for sport fixtures.

3. The Get-Home-from-School bus journey for 20 hours per week, from 3:30pm to 7:30pm on Mondays to Fridays during term times (as published on the school website).

Additional shifts are also available on Saturdays for sport fixtures.

Rate of Pay: £16.57 per hour. The hourly rate is calculated to include statutory holiday entitlement at 12.07%.

The two routes are:

1. From Barnes to Pimlico/Chelsea via Putney Bridge, the King's Road through Chelsea and then back to Barnes.

2. From Barnes to Petersham via Sheen and Richmond, then back to Barnes.

The Minibus Driver is accountable to the Transport Coordinator. The main responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operating one of the School’s bus routes via given pick-up and / or drop-off points as requested by the Head of Transport
Driving safely, legally and responsibly, always abiding by the Highway Code
Ensuring the care, health, safety and security of passengers at all times
Managing passenger behaviour according to the School's behavioural policy (training will be given)
Ensuring that the minibus is kept clean and in good condition
Daily visual inspection/checking of tyres, lights, oil, water, fuel, signage, etc.
Be familiar with vehicle handbook and operating instructions
Ensuring that any maintenance work required is communicated immediately to the Transport Coordinator
Adhering to all school policies including Health and Safety guidelines for minibus drivers
Communicating directly with parents regarding changes to schedule, passenger list, etc.

Essential requirements:

D1 Licence with no 101 restrictions
Physically fit and able to drive a manual 17-seater minibus
Confident to drive into London
Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English
Diplomatic, tactful, welcoming, with a "can-do" attitude
Excellent time keeping skills
Presentable
Calm under pressure
Conscientious, well-organised and reliable
Health and Safety awareness
A positive and resourceful approach to problem solving
Capable of using initiative
Ability to work and interact in an enthusiastic and friendly manner
Able to understand customer needs and provide a high standard of customer service
Flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the School
Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List check, overseas police check (where applicable) and appropriate Safeguarding and Prevent training

Desirable requirements:

Experience of education environment
First Aid qualification

These positions are offered on a permanent contract and work will primarily be carried out during school term times with occasional hours during the school holidays.
