The Role
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Commercial Researcher to join our growing team.
You will play a key role in identifying and qualifying new commercial opportunities, researching potential clients, engaging with key decision-makers, and booking meetings for our Senior Sales Team. You will also research relevant tender opportunities and maintain accurate records within our CRM system. Research and develop sales opportunities across all sectors using AI, portals, and market information.
In addition, you will provide support to our Sales Administrator during periods of absence or increased workload, helping to ensure the smooth running of the sales function.
Key Responsibilities
Client Research & Lead Generation
- Research and identify commercial organisations that could benefit from Solar PV installations and other renewable energy solutions.
- Contact prospective clients via telephone, email, and LinkedIn.
- Clearly communicate the commercial, financial, and environmental benefits of our renewable energy solutions.
- Build relationships with key decision-makers and qualify opportunities.
- Book qualified appointments for the Senior Sales Team.
- Gather market intelligence and customer insights to support future sales activity.
- Research and develop sales opportunities across all sectors using AI, portals, and market information.
- Send qualified leads to the Commercial Managers.
- Research industry trends, innovation, and competition.
Tender Research & Pipeline Management
- Research and identify relevant tender opportunities, particularly within the public sector.
- Monitor tender portals and maintain accurate records of upcoming opportunities.
- Support the sales team with tender planning and tracking.
CRM Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions, research activities, and opportunities within the company CRM system.
- Ensure all information is organised and accessible for the wider sales team.
Sales Administration Support
Provide cover for the Sales Administrator during holidays or busy periods by assisting with:
- Preparing quotations, proposals, and sales documentation.
- Responding to customer enquiries regarding products, services, and pricing.
- Liaising with Finance, Operations, and Technical teams to ensure smooth project handovers.
- Producing sales reports and maintaining sales records.
Reporting & Sales Support
- Compile research findings and lead generation activity reports.
- Produce sales reports, presentations, and market insights.
- Prepare sales packs for weekly sales meetings.
- Prepare quarterly sales presentations for Board meetings.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Confident speaking with senior decision-makers.
- Proactive, resilient, and comfortable making outbound calls.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- · Competent using Microsoft Office.
- · Experienced using LinkedIn and other professional networking platforms.
- · Interested in renewable energy and sustainability.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in lead generation, business development, telemarketing, or sales development.
- An understanding of Solar PV, renewable energy, ESG, or the UK energy market.
- Experience using CRM systems.
